Nottingham Forest loanee Jorge Grant has shone in League Two for Notts County and is wanted by Championship rivals Norwich City.
Notts County boss Kevin Nolan insists that Nottingham Forest are hugely impressed by the developments made by loan star Jorge Grant at Meadow Lane this season, as reported by the Nottingham Post.
The midfielder has scored a remarkable 16 goals in 32 games in all competitions for Forest’s high-flying local rivals in 2017/18, including 13 in League Two.
And while Forest have no plans to recall Grant at this stage, the latest exciting prospect to emerge from the club’s famed academy system could not have done more to show that he deserves a chance in the first-team at the end of his spell at County.
But according to Sky Sports (live transfer ticker, 10.49am), Grant’s superb performances in the fourth tier have attracted interest from elsewhere. It is understood that Norwich City have been left hugely impressed and are looking to swoop in and sign one of the most promising midfielders in the Football League.
Though based on his form over the last few months, Grant deserves to be given the chance to make his name at the City Ground. He made 20 appearances for Forest before falling out of favour under Mark Warburton but, with the 55-year-old now gone, Grant should have a clean slate.
Forest have sold a number of their most promising youngsters in recent years from Jamaal Lascelles to Karl Darlow and Oliver Burke, much to the chagrin of supporters.
So why on earth would they risk letting Grant fulfil his potential at league rivals Norwich without ever really giving him a prolonged run in Forest’s first-team?
