Will West Ham face Tottenham competition after making Adam Masina bid?

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Bologna’s Adam Masina as recently as November, but Premier League rivals West Ham United have made the first move.

West Ham United are unlikely to have it all their own way as they plot a move for Bologna left-back Adam Masina, as reported by the Sun.

It is understood that the Hammers have already had a bid rejected for the £15 million-rated 24-year-old, who is keen to try his hand in England after five years in the Serie A side’s first-team.

Masina has emerged as one of the best full-backs in Italy over the last couple of years, however, and it would be no surprise if West Ham are not the only Premier League giant keen to lure the former Italy under-21 international.

As recently as November, the Mirror stated that bitter London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also hot on Masina’s trail.

While Danny Rose may not be leaving the capital this month, it is expected that the long-serving number three will not be a Spurs player for too much longer, after he famously criticised the club’s transfer policy over the summer and suggested that he could look to earn one last big contract elsewhere.

And the Mirror stated that Tottenham had identified Masina as a potential replacement.

Ryan Sessegnon, the Fulham wonderkid heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, is likely to stay at Craven Cottage for the foreseeable future and, with his value rising to £50 million, Mauricio Pochettino could be in the market for a cheap alternative.

We may be set for a Tottenham versus West Ham tug-of-war, then, with a move to England potentially edging closer for Masina.
