Barnsley signed the 2nd highest goalscorer in the Austrian Bundesliga in January – but Championship rivals Leeds United could sign the Golden Boot winner.

Leeds United were linked with a number of experienced Championship strikers during the January transfer window from Chris Martin to Jordan Hugill.
Back in November, however, it seemed that director of football Victor Orta was willing to take a risk with another rather unknown import.

The Israeli international striker had been in superb form over in Austria and, while many of Orta’s foreign signings have underwhelmed, Dabour’s impressive form suggests he could have bucked the trend.
In the end, however, no new strikers arrived at Elland Road during the winter. But, if Dabour is available at the end of the season, Leeds should not think twice about taking a leaf out of Barnsley’s book and signing one of the most prolific players in Austria.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form in 2017/18 after all. He has inspired Salzburg to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga, where they sit two points clear of Sturm Graz, while he is also leading the Golden Boot chase with 13 goals in 19 matches.

Intriguingly, the man second in the scoring charts, Christoph Knasmullner, swapped Admira for Barnsley during the January transfer window.
So, after nabbing manager Paul Heckingbottom from their Yorkshire rivals, it will be interesting to see whether Leeds go ahead and swoop for the one player in Austria who has scored more goals than the Tykes’ new signing come the end of the season.
