Eduardo Herrera proved to be an expensive flop for Rangers and he is now back in the Liga MX with Santos Laguna.

Just what on earth is going on with Eduardo Herrera?
After a hugely disappointing single season with Rangers, the Mexican striker returned to his homeland in an attempt to get his career back on track. But a loan move to Santos Laguna has so far had the opposite effect.
Santos Laguna are currently second in the Liga MX table, behind Club America on goal-difference. But Herrera has not played much of a role in their race for the title.
The 30-year-old has not played a game since the end of August, meaning he has been left out of Santos Laguna’s match-day squad for two months. Seven league games having come and gone with Herrera nowhere to be seen.
Rangers paid £1.5 million to sign Herrera from Pumas UNAM in 2017, with Pedro Caixinha key to his arrival at Ibrox. But as long as Herrera struggles back home, Rangers’ hopes of recouping that investment will look very slim.

Caixinha, in stark contrast, is enjoying a much more positive return to Central America. The madcap manager led Cruz Azul to the Copa MX title last week, although this has been overshadowed somewhat by a remarkable row with a group of journalists after the game.
Caixinha was already serving a suspension from the touchline following a bitter spat with some of his own fans.
