Tom Rogic was reportedly worried about his lack of game time at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic once Charly Musonda arrived on loan from Chelsea.

According to the World Game back in February, Tom Rogic stunned Celtic by rejecting a new contract with the Scottish Premiership giants.

It was understood that the Australian play-maker was unhappy with the terms being offered with just one year remaining on his current deal. And, the report added, he was worried about the arrival of Charly Musonda from Chelsea on an 18-month loan deal.

Musonda was expected to compete with Rogic for that number ten role in Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI. And, worried by a potential reduction in game time, the former Central Coast Mariners star had decided to pursue an exit.

So it is surely no coincidence that Rogic has now signed a new deal and committed his future to Celtic, days after it was confirmed that Musonda was heading back to Chelsea.

The 21-year-old Belgian made just two league starts for Celtic between January and May and, unhappy with his lack of minutes, Chelsea made the decision to bring him back to Stamford Bridge and cut short his loan spell by 12 months.

Shortly after, Rogic has decided to put pen to paper, signing a five-year deal. And it is tempting to wonder whether Musonda’s exit made Rogic’s mind up.

With the fleet-footed youngster out of the picture, Rogic is free to cement his place in Celtic’s starting XI.
