Fabio Borini can’t stop scoring for Serie A giants AC Milan while parent club Sunderland are bottom of the Championship.

With Sunderland bottom of the Championship and staring successive relegations in the face, the last thing the fans needed was to see Fabio Borini in the form of his life.

The Italian attacker netted the only goal in a 1-0 Europa League second leg win against Ludogorets on Thursday night to seal Gennaro Gattuso’s side a place in the round of 16.

This was Borini’s third goal in three games after a strike away to Ludogorets in the first-leg and the 4-0 Serie A battering of SPAL.

Borini has more goals for Milan this month than he managed in 26 games at Sunderland last season, so expect the Rossineri to pay the bargain £6 million fee required to turn his loan spell permanent at the end of this season, as reported by Goal.

While chipping in with a decent amount of goals in recent weeks, Borini’s versatility has made him very important to Milan. He has played in both wide positions and even at wing-back, giving Gattuso tactical options that Sunderland counterpart Chris Coleman could only dream of.

And while Black Cats fans weren’t exactly enamoured with Borini last season amid a series of wasteful displays, it speaks volumes that most would welcome him back with open arms now.
