Reported target Stanley N’Soki is a risk Newcastle United cannot take for £9m

Newcastle United desperately need some new players and the Premier League outfit are reportedly in talks with PSG to sign Stanley N’Soki.

Newcastle United fans won’t need reminding of just how little the club has spent in the transfer market this summer. But, for reference’s sake, The Magpies have invested just £16 million on new signings with owner Mike Ashley once again keeping Rafa Benitez’s hands firmly tied.

And with a week to go before the transfer window shuts, it seems that Newcastle are no closer to adding to their squad with potential deals for the likes of Leighton Baines and Nicolas Tagliafico seemingly too expensive, according to the Chronicle.

So it would definitely raise eyebrows if Newcastle suddenly decided to spend £9 million on Stanley N’Soki.

According to Sky Sports, the Tyneside giants are in talks with PSG about signing the French U20 centre-back.

Now, RMC Sport are claiming that Benitez has contacted the Ligue 1 champions’ sporting director Antero Henrique and been told it would cost £9 million to sign the highly-rated N’Soki.

There have been a number of hugely talented defenders emerging in France in recent years, from Raphael Varane to Samuel Umtiti, and the 19-year-old has the potential to follow in their footsteps.

But N’Soki has made just one first-team appearance for PSG and Newcastle need players who will immediately improve their first-team squad – not youngsters Ashley can flog for a profit in a few years time.
