Scottish Premiership powerhouses Rangers reportedly wanted to sign Karlan Grant from Charlton Athletic before he joined Premier League Huddersfield.

Did Rangers miss out on signing the new Jamie Vardy? Possibly, with Charlton Athletic forward Lyle Taylor comparing Karlan Grant to the Leicester City and England star in an interview with London News Online.
According to talkSPORT, Rangers were hoping to sign the exciting striker from League One Charlton after he scored 14 goals in just 28 games in the first half of the 2018/19 season.
By the time the January transfer window slammed shut, however, Grant was a Huddersfield Town player rather than a Rangers one. The Terriers, despite looking all but relegated from the Premier League, paid £2 million to bring the youngster to the John Smith’s Stadium, as reported by talkSPORT.
And, speaking on Friday, Grant’s former Addicks teammate Taylor has admitted that the 21-year-old shares a few similarities with Leicester’s influential number nine.

“Has he got similar attributes to somebody like Jamie Vardy? Yes,” Taylor said.
“Karlan has got the raw ability and attributes to go and do whatever he wants. I don’t think there are any players in this country who could live with him for pace. He can put the ball in the back of the net, as he’s proven.
“He’s a very talented boy. I hope he goes and smashes it and one day I see him playing in an England shirt.”
Grant has played just 30 minutes of football since moving to Huddersfield, coming off the bench during the defeats against Chelsea and Arsenal. He might have to be patient and wait for his chance under the new manager, Jan Siewert.
