League One Sunderland are in desperate need of a quality goalkeeper so how about signing Jak Alnwick from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers?

Is Jak Alnwick staying at Rangers after all?
But Shrewsbury are not the only third tier side who should be looking at Alnwick this summer. Sunderland, after all, have a massive gap in their side at the moment.

And one of Jack Ross’s top priorities must be to sign a quality shot-stopper this summer after the dreadful performances of Luke Steele, Robbin Ruiter and Lee Camp as the Black Cats finished bottom of the Championship last season.
Alnwick, however, has proved himself as one of the top goalkeepers at League One level. He was excellent for Port Vale before his £250,000 move to Rangers in the winter of 2017.

And, while Alnwick seemed to suggest that he could be staying in Scotland this summer with an intriguing message posted on his official Twitter account, the fact is that the 24-year-old is likely to be behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham at Ibrox and needs a fresh start.
Despite Shrewsbury being priced out, Alnwick would not cost the world. And, if Sunderland fans can put his Newcastle past out of their minds, he would quickly become a key and valued member of Ross’s squad.
Perhaps it is time Sunderland made an enquiry.
