Patrick Roberts would like to stay at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic for ten in a row – but the Manchester City loanee wouldn’t come cheap.

Celtic are closing in on a seventh straight Scottish Premiership title – but loan star Patrick Roberts is hoping that he’ll still be around to help The Hoops make it ten in a row.

The Manchester City-owned winger has spent the last two and a half years at Parkhead and has developed into one of the most exciting attacking talents in British football. He scored 11 goals and assisted 19 last season as Celtic won the domestic treble for the first time since 2001.

And Roberts, unsurprisingly, has developed a real affinity with the club. It was he who fought for a return to Celtic last summer when Manchester City were keen to loan him elsewhere and, in an interview with the Scottish Sun, he has hinted that he’d like to stay for at least three more years.

With Man City hardly short of attacking depth, there may be a chance that the Premier League champions-elect will listen to offers this summer for a player who has never broke into the first-team since his £12 million move from Fulham in 2015, as reported by Sky Sports.

But if Celtic are to make Roberts’ hopes come true and tie him down on a permanent basis, they should be aware that they will have to break their transfer record for the first time since John Hartson arrived for £6 million back in 2001.

Fortunately, manager Brendan Rodgers admitted last summer, per the Daily Record, that Celtic were willing to make Roberts the most expensive player in the club’s history if City were willing to sell him on a permanent basis.

With Roberts’ latest loan deal expiring in the summer, they may have another chance to prove their ambition.
