Championship giants Leeds United must decide whether to keep Hamburg loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga at Elland Road for the long term.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga might have six months to impress new Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom if he wants to remain at Elland Road next season.

The Hamburg loanee has divided fans throughout the campaign and, for every display of clinical finishing, there have been two or three anonymous performances from the inconsistent centre-forward.

And with Hamburg seemingly keen to sell their high-earning striker to Leeds on a permanent basis at the earliest opportunity, according to Kicker via Fussball Transfers, he will surely have to find some form under Heckingbottom before the end of the season.

Lasogga has failed to score in nine of his last ten games in all competitions; something that will not have passed the former Barnsley boss by.

So it would be little surprise if Leeds decide against signing the German permanently and look instead for a replacement. And if Michal Krmencik is available in the summer, they should not wait twice.

The CEO of Czech side Viktoria Plzen told Lidovky this week that Leeds made a bid for the 24-year-old striker in January, although the club did not want to sell midway through the season.

It seems inevitable that Krmencik will leave in the summer, however, after netting a remarkable 16 goals in 17 games in all competitions this season. Unlike Lasogga, who arrived at Leeds after three injury-hit and misfiring seasons, Krmencik would arrive at the top of his game.
