Manchester United want Tottenham left-back Danny Rose – and a swap deal involving Luke Shaw makes perfect sense for the Premier League duo.
Danny Rose looked on track to become one of European football’s leading full-backs during the first-half of a highly impressive 2016/17 season.
However, after a long spell on the sidelines with injury and an ill-advised interview with The Sun in which he publically questioned Tottenham’s ambition, Rose is stuck behind Ben Davies in the pecking order and looks very much second choice.
So the former Leeds United youngster could jump at the chance to kick-start his career with a summer move. According to The Sun, Rose wants to move to Manchester United – and fortunately Jose Mourinho seems keen to bring him in.
A deal cannot happen, however, until United offload their seldom-seen £30 million man Luke Shaw, but perhaps the best solution could be the obvious one – a swap deal.
According to The Express, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen to reunite with Shaw, who he handed his breakthrough at Southampton, in the January transfer window before a series of improved displays encouraged United to keep the faith until the summer.
Shaw is a 22-year-old homegrown talent, the likes of which have made great strides under the stewardship of Pochettino both on the South Coast and in North London so a move to Spurs could see him fulfil the potential he has been unable to unleash at Old Trafford.
It is understood, via The Sun, that Fulham’s 17-year-old Ryan Sessegnon is Pochettino’s top target but the prospect of landing Shaw in exchange for Rose would surely give him a decision to make.
