Roma’s Alisson Becker is arguably the best shot-stopper in Serie A, so no wonder Premier League giants Liverpool have expressed an interest.

Just a few months after making Virgil van Dijk the most expensive defender in footballing history, Liverpool have been tipped to do another world-record deal as Jurgen Klopp aims to fix his side’s Achilles heel once and for all.

As reported by Sky Sports, Liverpool have made contact with Brazil international Alisson Becker about a potential move to Merseyside.

It is understood, however, that Serie A giants Roma would demand £62 million for the shot-stopper, almost double the fee that Manchester City paid for compatriot Ederson during last summer’s transfer window.

And it seems that Liverpool fans are divided about reports of a goalkeeper arriving at Anfield for huge money. Particularly with Loris Karius finding some semblance of consistent form for the first time in his Liverpool career.

Klopp has handed the German the number one jersey since the turn of the year and, barring one or two nervy moments, Karius has not let his manager down. In fact, he has kept three clean sheets in four games and made a number of decent stops in the recent 2-0 win at Southampton, not to mention a penalty save from Harry Kane against Tottenham.

And some fans believe that £62 million would be better spent elsewhere, perhaps on a world class Philippe Coutinho replacement a la Real Madrid’s bandy-legged number 22 Isco.
