Leeds United have been installed as third favourites to sign Ipswich Town’s David Goldrick, a target for Championship rivals Birmingham and Cardiff City.

One goal was enough as Ipswich Town defeated Leeds United at Portman Road last weekend. But at least it wasn’t scored by David McGoldrick this time.
Ipswich’s centre-forward has an excellent record against Leeds, netting six goals against them in just 11 games. In fact, McGoldrick has not scored more times against any other club.
So when Leeds were installed as the 6/1 third favourites to sign the 30-year-old this month, in odds provided by Bet Victor, the prospect of McGoldrick moving to Elland Road would at least prevent fans from viewing a trip to Ipswich with such trepidation.

And, having scored at Championship level for Nottingham Forest and Southampton in the past, McGoldrick is the sort of proven second tier performer that many fans have clamoured for in their attack.
But it appears that Leeds fans are aiming a little higher than a striker who has just 22 Championship goals to his name since the beginning of the 2014/15 season.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds turned down Derby County’s Chris Martin due to his excessive wages and will not pay the £8 million Preston want for Jordan Hugill.
McGoldrick, then, would be a cheap option. But not necessarily a popular one.
