Championship high-flyers Leeds United should consider making a move for Leicester City’s Premier League outcast Andy King.
Leicester City will have to submit their 25-man Premier League squad at the start of September and there could be a few notable omissions.
According to the Leicester Mercury, The Foxes simply have too many players despite letting Islam Slimani and Leonardo Ulloa leave. Claude Puel’s side have a whole host of midfield options and the report suggests that the likes of Matty James, Nampalys Mendy and Andy King could be left in limbo.
If the latter is made available on loan however, and the Mercury suggest he could be, then there should be no shortage of suitors and Leeds must be at the front of the queue.
Head coach Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Leeds could do with another addition before the loan window shuts and King would add depth to a midfield which can no longer call on Ronaldo Vieira or, for the time being, the injured Adam Forshaw.
King is unlikely to have much of a role at Leicester after spending the second half of last season on loan at Swansea City. But the 29-year-old Welsh international would be an excellent addition for Leeds given his impressive track record in the Championship.
King won the division after all in 2014 and scored 41 goals in five seasons at second tier level. His work rate, versatility and ability to score goals from deep makes him a good fit too for a Marcelo Bielsa side.
Leeds would have to move quick, however, as you can guarantee that King will have plenty of suitors. Bringing the Euro 2016 semi-finalist to Elland Road, however, could cement Leeds’ place as Championship title favourites.
