Leeds United reportedly held talks with Aston Villa about signing experienced Championship winger Albert Adomah in the summer transfer window.
Leeds United might not have got a deal over the line for Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah in August, but do not rule out the Ghana international making a move to Elland Road in 2019.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Leeds held talks with Villa about potentially signing the 30-year-old. And it was claimed by TEAMtalk that the Whites were still interested when Adomah was told he could leave by manager Steve Bruce on deadline day.
A move to West Yorkshire failed to materialise in time, however. But there seems to be a good chance that the former Bristol City and Middlesbrough winger will be offered around again in the New Year.
Adomah’s contract is due to expire next summer as things stand, meaning January will be Aston Villa’s last chance to bring in any money for a player with a huge amount of Championship experience on his CV. In short, selling him in the winter makes sense.
Particularly now the additions of Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi (above) from Everton and Lille respectively have pushed Adomah down the pecking order.
El Ghazi has enjoyed an excellent start to life in England while Bolasie, who cost £28 million just two years ago, could take the division by storm.
If Leeds still want to sign Adomah in the coming months, they should be feeling very confident. The experienced attacker scored a career-best 15 goals last season and would add strength in depth to Marcelo Bielsa’s rather small squad.
