Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Andre Silva – but Premier League giants Everton are keen too.

Andre Silva of AC Milan looks on during the Serie A match between AC Milan and Bologna FC at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on December 10, 2017 in Milan, Italy.

Almost a month after the January transfer window closed, things are not getting any better for Andre Silva at AC Milan.

The Portuguese striker still has not scored a Serie A goal for the Rossineri and has only started two games in all competitions during a busy February fixture schedule.

The disappointing nature of his spell at the San Siro has led to speculation that Silva could be rescued at the end of this season, with Calciomercato reporting back in January that Everton were showing interest in a player who cost £33 million from Porto as recently as last summer.

And Calciomercato is now claiming that Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes met up with Milan’s managing director Marco Fassone prior to the 1-0 Europa League win against Ludogorets on Thursday to discuss his client’s future.

It is understood that Mendes will help Premier League clubs give Silva a fresh start and Milan may be willing to sell for a reasonable price.

Good news for Everton, then, who could still do with a new number nine with doubts already surfacing around Cenk Tosun following the former Besiktas striker’s slow start at Goodison Park.

Fans of Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, may have a few questions.

After all, The Mirror reported links with the ambitious second tier side and Silva back in January with Wolves, nine points clear at the top of the table, looking for reinforcements ahead of their seemingly inevitable promotion to the Premier League.

Mendes, however, has close links with Wolves’ Chinese owners and has been bringing a vast number of his clients to Molineux over the last two seasons, including Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota.

It would seem a little odd, then, if Mendes helps Everton sign Silva instead.
