Since taking over as the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017, Nuno Espirito Santo has hardly changed his preferred back three.
Connor Coady, Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett have started almost every league game under the former Porto and Valencia boss, with the likes of Dominic Iorfa, Kortney Hause and even summer signing Leander Dendoncker left on the sidelines.
The trio have also played every one of Wolves’ 990 minutes of Premier League football since they returned to the top flight this season. But do suggestions about the club’s January transfer plans suggest one of Coady, Boly or Bennett are about to come under pressure for the first time under Nuno?
According to La Depeche, Wolves are very interested in the highly-rated Toulouse defender Jean-Clair Tobido, who has risen through the ranks and made ten Ligue 1 appearances this season, replacing Issa Diop after his departure to West Ham.
Tobido, however, has not yet signed a professional contract, meaning Wolves could sign him on a free in January.
The versatile France U20 international may be just 18 but he has shown at Toulouse that he is ready for regular first-team football, and Nuno is willing to throw a youngster in at the deep end if he sees fit.
After three successive defeats, and some shaky performances against Watford and Tottenham in particular, Coady, Boly and Bennett should be watching their back.
