West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing Switzerland’s World Cup striker Haris Seferovic to the Premier League from Benfica.

West Ham United fans will not need reminding of just how many strikers have flopped spectacularly in claret and blue since Davids Gold and Sullivan took over the club eight years ago.
From Benni McCarthy to Modibo Maiga, Brian Montenegro to Marco Borriello, there has been a seemingly never-ending flow of ill-fitting centre-forwards, almost all of whom have struggled to find the net in West Ham colours.
Even the likes of Javier Hernandez, a prolific goal-scorer with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, has suffered from the so-called West Ham striker curse.
So it goes without saying that West Ham fans should treat the potential signing of Haris Seferovic with plenty of caution. Record states that the Hammers are one of the teams interested in the 26-year-old Swiss international, who appears to have no future at Benfica.

But Seferovic’s goal-scoring record is far from impressive. In 20 Primeira Liga games for Benfica, he scored just four times.
He also hit the net just 16 times in 86 Bundesliga matches for Eintracht Frankfurt before making the move to Portugal.

In total, Seferovic’s career tally for club and country stands at 55 in 270 games and his penchant for missing clear chances makes a mockery of the £52 million release clause in his contract.
Perhaps West Ham should steer clear to avoid another high profile striking failure.
