The 18-year-old has come from nowhere to establish himself as one of Leeds’ key players over the last few months, his fearless style and rapid pace making him a key creative outlet for a side who frequently dominate possession but don’t always turn control into chances.

But even if the worst case scenario occurs and Clarke has his head turned by a potential move to Anfield, it seems that Leeds have identified another dazzling young winger who could act as a ready-made replacement.
The Daily Record reports that the Whites sent scouts to watch Jake Hastie in action for Motherwell last week and the 19-year-old didn’t disappoint, thumping a thunderous long-range strike into the top corner in a 2-1 win against St Mirren.
That was Hastie’s third goal in the space of a week – no wonder manager Stephen Robinson has described him as a ‘breath of fresh air’ to STV while hailing his confident, fearless approach to the game.
