Nottingham Forest have reportedly been in contact with left-back Max Clark, who is out of contract at Championship rivals Hull City.

Max Clark is just one of a number of key players who appear set to leave Hull City in what is shaping up to be another nightmare summer window at the KCOM Stadium.
Talisman Abel Hernandez, goalkeeper Allan McGregor and experienced centre-back Michael Dawson are all out of contract – as is the 22-year-old left-back who has risen through Hull’s academy to force himself into the first-team this season.
‘Wouldn’t blame him’
And former Hull City ace Peter Swan, who played for The Tigers between 1989 and 1991, has told the Hull Daily Mail that he could understand if Clark felt he was better off at Nottingham Forest.

“I wouldn’t blame him for pursuing pastures new and moving to a club where he feels valued, something he clearly doesn’t at City or he wouldn’t have rejected the offer of a new deal earlier in the season,” Swan said of Clark, who declined a three-year contract back in September.
“It is only right that clubs such as Nottingham Forest are monitoring his situation in the hope that he can continue to progress away from Hull next season.
“Leaving his boyhood club shortly after breaking through into the first team may not have been how Clark would have imagined his career going, but he has to do what is right for him.”

Swan’s frank admission is perhaps a reflection of the unhappy atmosphere on Humberside right now, with fans protesting against the owners on a frequent basis and Hull underachieving on the pitch due to a perceived lack of investment.
They have gone from the Premier League to 18th in the Championship in one year.
