Robert Huth shone as Leicester City won the Premier League title under Ranieri in 2016 – and Fulham could do with the German’s experience.

You don’t need to be a UEFA licensed football tactician to know what Claudio Ranieri must do to save Fulham after taking over the Premier League’s bottom club on Wednesday.
Only two teams in Premier League history have ever endured a worst start to a top flight season than The Cottagers, who are 20th in the table with just five points from 12 games. And with 31 goals conceded already, it is clear where the problems lie.
So it is no surprise that Ranieri is already hoping to bring in two new defenders in January, as reported by The Mirror. But maybe the veteran Italian doesn’t have to wait that long. After all, his Leicester City title-winner Robert Huth is still a free agent.
The 34-year-old left The Foxes upon the expiry of his contract in July and, despite links with the likes of Aston Villa and Derby County (The Mirror, live blog, June 29), is still without a club.
But could he be a viable short-term addition for a Fulham side in desperate need of leadership and experience at the back?

Giant German Huth started 35 games as Leicester remarkably won the Premier League title in 2015/16, with The Foxes’ success built upon a solid backline.
If Ranieri is to lead Fulham away from the relegation zone, reuniting with Huth could be a step in the right direction.
