Everton and West Ham United reportedly want to bring centre-back Domagoj Vida to the Premier League and no wonder considering his World Cup displays.

Everton and West Ham United had two of the leakiest defences in the Premier League last season. The Toffees were a shadow of the side that was so often an impossible nut to crack during the David Moyes era, while no side in the top flight conceded more goals than the Hammers.
But is Domagoj Vida really the man to solve their problems? Turkish publication Skor has claimed that both Everton and West Ham are interested in the Besiktas defender, who is far from a household name or one of the most eye-catching defenders on the market.

Anyone who watched Croatia dismantle Argentina in the World Cup on Thursday night, however, will tell you just what Vida would bring to either Goodison Park or the London Stadium.
Stunning goals from Luka Modric and Ante Rebic will live long in the memory as Argentina were humiliated 3-0 against their Balkan opponents, but Vida deserves a huge amount of credit for keeping Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Paolo Dybala off the score sheet at the other end.

Alongside the similarly inspired Dejan Lovren, the ponytailed 29-year-old threw his body in the way of almost everything as Croatia kept a second clean sheet in two World Cup games. It was a display of pure diligence and determination – one Vida’s Argentine counterparts could learn a thing or two from.
Far too often last season Everton and West Ham seemed to collapse, beaten and broken. Vida’s arrival could ensure that does not happen again.
