Premier League side Crystal Palace made late moves to sign Greg Docherty and Jason Cummings before they joined Ibrox giants Rangers.

There is just a week remaining in the transfer window and it seems Crystal Palace still have plenty of work to do.
The Eagles have been linked with a whole host of players in a variety of positions over the last couple of weeks, but so far only the rather unknown duo of Jaroslav Jach and Erdal Rakip have arrived at Selhurst Park.
Deals for the likes of Khouma Babacar, Dusko Tosic, Oumar Niasse and Robin Olsen do not appear to be going anywhere fast – so it is tempting to wonder whether Palace are getting a little desperate.
Because the Scottish Sun states that Palace made a very late bid to nab Hamilton Academical midfielder Greg Docherty from under Rangers’ nose. Too late, in fact, as the Gers have now got their man for £680,000.

The question is, why did Palace wait so long to make their move? Rangers have been linked with Docherty for a number of weeks and it has been clear for some time that Hamilton would have been willing to listen to offers in excess of £600,000.
This is not the first time, however, that Palace have attempted to swoop for one of Rangers’ top targets.

In the end, Cummings joined the Scottish giants on loan with an option to buy. Clearly, Palace need to act much quicker if they are to bring in new faces.
But the question of why they are only acting when a deal looks all but done needs to be answered.
