Championship hopefuls Nottingham Forest reportedly want to sign Bakary Sako after he left Crystal Palace.
The transfer window shut at the end of August but Nottingham Forest are still scouring the market for new players to aid their promotion push.
Aitor Karanka has welcomed Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Claudio Yacob to the City Ground on free transfers, while Iranian international Karim Ansarifard seems set to arrive in the near future.
According to the Sun (9 September, page 63), Bakary Sako is another unattached talent who is under consideration by ambitious, promotion-seeking Forest.
The 30-year-old is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer and would surely add thrust, pace and unpredictability to a Forest side that has not exactly looked fluent up front since the pragmatic Karanka was appointed at the start of 2018.
In his last Championship season with Wolves in 2014/15, Sako scored 15 goals and set up seven more. He certainly has pedigree.
And Forest’s chances of winning the race for his signature are surely now better than ever. Palace had been tipped to bring Sako back to Selhurst Park but, according to London News Online, they have been forced to pull the plug after failing to farm Jason Puncheon out to Middlesbrough on deadline day.
Aston Villa, who the Sun claims are also interested, do not appear to be a realistic destination now that Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El-Ghazi are plying their trade under Steve Bruce.
So Forest stand out as one of the best options available to the unemployed Sako right now.
