Crystal Palace have reportedly bid for Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons but another Premier League side, Everton, have also been linked.

The hunt is on for Maxime Gonalons with two Premier League clubs so far in competition.
Sky Sports state that Crystal Palace have made a bid of £8.9 million to sign the Roma midfielder with Calciomercato adding on Thursday that Everton are also interested.
This is despite the fact that 29-year-old Gonalons struggled badly to make an impression in Italy last season, starting just 12 Serie A games and arguably failing to provide adequate support for the ageing veteran Daniele De Rossi.
But that does not mean Gonalons would not be a fine addition for Everton in particular – both on and off the pitch.

After all, the Toffees have already bid farewell to club captain Wayne Rooney while, according to the Mirror, Ashley Williams is surplus to requirements. Furthermore, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines risk being phased out with Barcelona duo Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne heavily linked.
This means that new manager Marco Silva is set to lose a lot of experience from his Everton side, but the arrival of Gonalons would help in that regard.
The eight-time France international is a player who leads by example. He was a virtual ever present and the captain of Lyon for a number of years, making 333 appearances for the club where he started his career and playing regularly at the top level of European football.
This perhaps explains why Everton want to sign him. Although they will have to move quick with Palace making their bid.
