Celtic fans were very impressed with Curtis Main as he scored goals for fun at Motherwell but he is not the Premiership champions’ new John Hartson.

Curtis Main was enjoying arguably the best spell of his career back in the spring.
The Darlington-born striker joined Motherwell from Portsmouth at the start of 2018 and immediately made a huge impact at Fir Park. Between January to April, Main hit the back of the net eight times, including a match-winning double in a 3-0 Scottish Cup semi-final thrashing of Motherwell.
Fans of Celtic, who were due to come up against Motherwell in the May showpiece, were certainly impressed. In fact, some even went as far as to suggest that Brendan Rodgers should consider making a move for Main, whose powerful and rugged style earned him comparisons with the legendary Hoops striker John Hartson.
Seven months later, however, the chances of Main joining Celtic and becoming the modern-day answer to Hartson look decidedly slim.

The former Middlesbrough striker has not carried that lethal form into the new campaign. Main has scored just once in eight league games for Steve Robinson’s side and has frequently let the opposition off the hook with a number of missed chances.
No doubt the Celtic fans have different views about the prospect of signing Main these days.
