Aston Villa want to sign Sam Gallagher from Premier League Southampton, according to reports, but could Keinan Davis go the other way?

Sam Gallagher played his football at St. Andrews last season and has been lined up for a shock move to Birmingham City’s bitter rivals.
With Villa embroiled in a dire financial situation, needing to raise £40 million to avoid FFP sanctions, they can only afford to sign players on loan right now. Which makes Gallagher, who is well down the pecking order at St Mary’s, a viable target.
But Southampton hold all the cards in this situation. And they are in a position to demand a potential swap deal.
As reported by the Star, the Saints are interested in Aston Villa’s 20-year-old front man Keinan Davis, who impressed with his work rate and physicality in the Championship last season despite finding the net just twice. And Villa could be forced to sell, given that they have to raise funds as quickly as possible.

Davis, however, will be one of the players Villa are most keen to keep hold of. Although their interest in Gallagher could just have given Southampton something of a trump card.
Letting Gallagher go to Villa Park on loan as part of a deal that would take Davis to the South Coast could perhaps be enough to twist Bruce’s arm.
