Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion reportedly wanted right-backs from Rangers, Yeovil Town and Chelsea but failed to sign any of them.
West Bromwich Albion have tried and, so far, failed to sign a new right-back all summer long.
They had agreed a deal with Yeovil Town’s Tom James, only for the deal to fall apart due to a disagreement over personal terms, according to the Birmingham Mail.
They also saw a £3 million bid rejected by Rangers for their influential captain James Tavernier, as reported by TEAMtalk, while Chelsea youngster Ola Aina snubbed the Championship for a move to Italy and Torino.
So it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that West Brom have now decided to sell Allan Nyom.
The Cameroon defender was hardly a fans’ favourite at the Hawthorns and was heavily criticised for an error-strewn display in the 4-3 win at Norwich City last week. But Nyom was still West Brom’s first choice right back and his loan move to La Liga outfit Leganes leaves Darren Moore a little short of options.
Yes, Craig Dawson and Tosin Adarabioyo can play at right-back but they are both centre-halves by trade and the last thing Moore wants is to force square pegs into round holes.
And there is now a great deal of pressure on West Brom to get a right-back through the door before the end of August. Otherwise, they could quickly rue letting Nyom leave, mistakes or no mistakes.
