An Aston Villa side without John Terry suffered a humiliating Championship defeat to Sheffield United at Brammal Lane, piling the pressure on Steve Bruce.

It is fair to say Aston Villa were missing John Terry during their 4-1 thrashing at Sheffield United on Saturday.
Villa fell apart at Brammal Lane, heading into the half-time break with a three-goal deficit before conceding once more after the break, albeit against a Blades side producing perhaps their most impressive Championship display so far under Chris Wilder.
If Steve Bruce was not under pressure from Aston Villa fans before the weekend, he certainly is now. And, with Terry still without a club, fans have taken to Twitter to clamour for his return on the back of a quite dreadful defensive display.

The former England captain was a revelation at Villa Park last season, starting 35 Championship games and helping them reach the play-off final. Terry was a huge influence on and off the pitch with his experience and win-at-all-costs mentality.
Now, with Villa in financial crisis at the start of the summer, they could no longer afford his £60,000-a-week wages and were forced to bid farewell. But with Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens giving the Midland giants far more financial freedom, there is perhaps now room in the budget for Terry’s return.

And the fans are desperate to see it happen:
