Albert Adomah was not at his best as Aston Villa opened their Championship campaign with a 3-1 win at Hull City on Monday night

In terms of pure statistics, Albert Adomah enjoyed the best season of his career in 2017/18.
The winger produced 14 goals from the wing for Aston Villa in the Championship, while his tally of five assists is nothing to be sniffed at either. But, clearly this does not mean that Adomah is exempt from criticism from the Villa fans.
The 30-year-old wasn’t quite at his best during the 3-1 opening day win at Hull City on Monday night. Despite working hard to help out the struggling Neil Taylor, Adomah appeared to lack a bit of confidence in attack.

It has to be said that Andre Green, who replaced the Ghanaian international with 25 minutes to go, looked far more dangerous in his cameo appearance.
The former Bristol City star might have enjoyed a stellar 2017/18 but, from another perspective, he is now 14 games without a goal for Aston Villa. And it seems that some fans would even be happy to see Adomah go.
He was previously linked with a return to Middlesbrough earlier in the window by TEAMtalk, but this was before Villa were saved from financial ruin by their new owners.
Just 90 minutes into the new season, it seems that one key player is already under pressure from some sections of the support.
