West Ham United reportedly sold Domingos Quina to Watford for £1million because they thought he could not handle the style of the Premier League.

Despite being one of the most talented youngsters in the Hammers’ academy, the London club decided to accept as little as £1 million for the Portuguese midfielder, with the Mirror reporting that they believed he was struggling to handle the physical nature of English football.
Quina looked far from lightweight as he made his first top flight start in Watford colours on Monday night, however. The 19-year-old put in a tireless midfield performance as the Hornets scrapped a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park, earning rave reviews from his manager Javi Gracia.
“It’s not easy to play your first game his debut and he put in a very good performance – an amazing performance,” the former Malaga boss said of Quina, as reported by Football London.
“Everybody knows that he’s a very good young player but I think he has a great present and an amazing future as well. He’s one player of this squad and I know he’s always ready to help the team like he did today.”
Any West Ham fans who were watching on would have been wondering why on earth they let Quina go, particularly with the centre of midfield lacking energy and youth right now.
The Mirror reports that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona were keen on Quina before he headed to Vicarage Road – and the teenager is already showing signs that he could be one that got away for the Hammers.
