Sam Dalby arrived at Elland Road from National League side Leyton Orient but when will he make his Championship debut for Leeds United?

Sam Dalby has earned rave reviews since he arrived at Leeds United from Leyton Orient in the January transfer window.

The highly-rated 18-year-old forward signed a two-and-a-half year deal and joined up with Carlos Corberan’s U23 side, with the much-maligned director of football Victor Orta describing him as ‘an important player for the future’, as reported by the club’s official website.

Orta has been roundly slammed by supporters with many of his summer signings struggling to make the grade in the first-team. But Dalby is just one of a number of fresh-faced young talents that have thrived since moving to Elland Road during his reign.

And he enhanced his reputation further still with another classy finish as Leeds’ U23s capped a fine season in the Professional Development League by beating Bristol City 4-0 away from home.

Tyler Denton netted two himself, putting the icing on the cake following Dalby’s effort and a first-half own goal from Robins defender Jayden Ali. But it was the composure and style of Dalby’s Angel Di Maria style finish that got Leeds fans talking on Twitter.

Goals have been a problem at Elland Road this season, with summer signings Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki struggling while Pierre-Michel Lasogga seems unlikely to make his loan move from Hamburg permanent due to his excessive wages.

So how much longer before Dalby becomes a genuine option for the first-team?
