‘Waste of talent’: Wolves fans react as Anderson Talisca chooses China

After two years of being linked with the Premier League and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Anderson Talisca has joined Guangzhou Evergrande.

Anderson Talisca is not the most popular man in Wolverhampton right now.

Because, after two years of incessant links with Wolves, the Brazilian attacker has been swayed by the mon…ahem, the challenge, of the Chinese Super League.

Wolves have been linked with Talisca since the summer of 2016, when the Sun claimed that they were set to break their transfer record to sign him from Benfica.

And after two excellent years on loan at Besiktas, Milliyet claimed that Wolves had renewed their interest this summer and were willing to pay £26.5 million.

It seemed that Jorge Mendes, whose Gestifute agency counts Talisca among it is large array of high profile clients, would give the Championship winners the advantage with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool also heavily linked.

But Talisca, who scored 20 goals for Besiktas last season, will not be moving to the Midlands, Manchester or Merseyside.

Because according to ESPN, the 24-year-old has opted instead to sign for Guangzhou Evergrande on a slightly odd six-month loan deal. Why the loan is so short is anyone’s guess. And it would be little surprise to see links with Wolves emerge once again in the New Year.

But, as far as Wolves fans are concerned, Talisca has not exactly shown his ambition by choosing China over the chance to turn the Molineux club into a genuine force.
