James McCarthy hasn’t made a Premier League appearance since breaking his leg in January and the Goodison Park faithful are missing him.

How to judge Everton’s start under Marco Silva.
On paper, The Toffees have won just one of four Premier League games since the former Watford and Hull City boss finally arrived at Goodison Park. But the football is far more expansive and expressive than the tedium served up under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce, with the likes of Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson showing what they can do in Everton blue.
At the other end, however, Everton have conceded five goals from set pieces already this season while there is still a lack of real quality or combativeness in central midfield.
Morgan Schneiderlin is still yet to convince many supporters, while the feeling is that Tom Davies would be better suited to an advanced midfield role. So there is absolutely still a place in the side for the forgotten man James McCarthy.

The former Wigan man was once a regular at the heart of Everton’s midfield but injuries have left him on the sidelines for far too long. McCarthy hasn’t been seen since suffering a horror broken leg against West Brom in January.
Fortunately, he started training again in July and a first-team return isn’t too far away, barring any late complications. And Everton fans are counting down the days.
