Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers have reportedly turned their attention to Manchester City’s Kean Bryan as Steven Gerrard targets a centre-back.

Most Rangers fans won’t know a huge amount about Kean Bryan and why should they? The 21-year-old defender has never made a first-team appearance for Manchester City and spent the last two seasons on loan at Bury and Oldham Athletic.
But what can supporters expect from Bryan amid claims from the Scottish Sun that he is the latest defensive talent Steven Gerrard has targeted this summer?
Well, the England U20 ace certainly isn’t your average, kick-and-hope, Row Z-thumping lower-league centre-half. Bryan is a cultured and classy player who has been fielded in central midfield by Manchester City’s youth coaches at times.
And that excellent technique shone through during his spell at Oldham in League One in 2017/18 – particularly when he scored a brilliant left-footed free-kick in a home defeat to Fleetwood Town in December (scroll to 1:25).
Gerrard appears to have signed players capable of playing an attractive, possession based style at Ibrox with fellow centre-half Connor Goldson, a £3 million arrival from Brighton, renowned for his comfort in possession.
Bryan, then, should fit right in, especially after the Rangers manager was impressed by his displays alongside his younger cousin Anthony Gerrard at Oldham.
Bryan, Oldham’s reigning Young Player of the Year, has just 12 months left on his City contract so would not break the bank.
