Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly want to sign Adam Davies.

Adam Davies of Barnsley celebrates with the second place trophy after getting promoted following during the Sky Bet League One match between Bristol Rovers and Barnsley at Memorial Stadium...

If Adam Davies leaves Barnsley this summer, he will bid farewell to Oakwell a genuine club hero.

Not only was the Wales international named the Tykes’ Player of the Year, he also kept a club-record 21 clean sheets as Daniel Stendel’s side sealed a return to the Championship, finishing behind Luton Town in the League One table.

No goalkeeper in the division left so many opponents frustrated over the last nine months. The Golden Glove award is a fine reflection of what has been an outstanding individual season between the sticks. Not every player gets this kind of reception after the final game of the season after all.

And with Davies’ contract expiring in July, the Stoke Sentinel reports that he could be about to bid an emotional farewell to Barnsley with Stoke, Birmingham, Hull and Bristol City interested.

Claims that Wolverhampton Wanderers want to give the 26-year-old his chance in the Premier League, however, have certainly raised plenty of eyebrows – even if Davies would likely be just a back-up to Rui Patricio.

Links with the former Everton youngster will cast doubt on the future of John Ruddy, who has had to get used to life on the Molineux bench since Patricio’s arrival.
