You might have heard that Chelsea’s record of bringing youth team potential into the promised land of the first-team is rather poor. After all, it’s a long time since a fresh-faced John Terry rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Despite successive UEFA Youth Cup titles, four FA Youth Cup triumphs in the last five years, Chelsea’s next generation are still finding their path to the first-team blocked, with endless loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem often their only taste of regular action.
