Eric Lichaj is showing why Hull City were so determined to raid Championship neighbours Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window

Hull City were a team transformed against Rotherham United on Tuesday night. After a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, The Tigers roared into life at the New York Stadium, winning 3-2 to seal their first victory of the new season.
Jackson Irvine was the hero, netting twice from midfield to remind everyone of his goalscoring instincts from that stellar spell at Burton Albion. Frazer Campbell scored the other, firing home on the stroke of half time to help give Hull a lead that Rotherham could not turn around.
At the other end, however, there are still improvements to be made. Reece Burke and Jordy de Wijs, summer signings from West Ham and PSV respectively, look shaky as a centre-back pairing.
But the same criticism could not be levelled at Eric Lichaj. The USA international arrived from Nottingham Forest this summer after a protracted transfer saga and has wasted no time in showing why Nigel Adkins wanted him.

Even in an unfamiliar left-back role, Lichaj was solid once again and a picture of reliability. He even produced the assist for Campbell’s goal. Nottingham Forest’s loss is most certainly proving to be Hull’s gain.
