Championship strugglers Reading will reportedly let David Meyler leave, and a return to League One Sunderland should be on the cards.

Sunderland could be left frustrated in their apparent pursuit of a one-time Stadium of Light midfielder.
According to the Gazette, the Black Cats were interested in offering Grant Leadbitter a return to where it all began, although the 33-year-old has made it clear he has no interest in bidding farewell to Middlesbrough with 18 months left on his contract.
Fortunately for Sunderland, however, there is another former Wearside favourite who is free to leave before the end of the month.
According to the Reading Chronicle, new Royals boss Jose Gomes has put David Meyler up for sale, alongside Vito Mannone and Paul McShane.
The Republic of Ireland international, who spent five years at Sunderland between 2008 and 2013, has made just five Championship starts for Reading this season but still has plenty to offer at the age of 29.

Tenacious and experienced, Meyler would add energy and a vocal presence in the dressing room, with Jack Ross hoping to lead Sunderland back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The 24-capped midfielder could be a galvanising force for a youthful Sunderland team, acting as a mentor for youngsters like George Honeyman and Bali Mumba.
