Jean-Clair Tobido has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances this season and is reportedly a target for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jean-Clair Tobido to Wolverhampton Wanderers is a thousand miles away from being a done deal.

La Depeche reported last week that the Premier League newcomers have identified another star of the future in the 18-year-old Toulouse defender, who has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances this season and filled the void left by Issa Diop’s departure to West Ham United.

Les Violets, however, have claimed that Wolves are just one of over 40 teams interested in the teenager.

With Toulouse having so far failed to tie Tobido down to a professional contract, despite offering him a big pay rise, it seems that the French top flight side have all but given up hopes of keeping their talented teenager.

“The club has (embarked on) many weeks of negotiations with the player and his entourage in order to make him sign his first professional contract,” head coach Alain Casanova told a press conference shown on Toulouse’s official website.

“Todibo will be free in January to engage wherever he wants for a few hundred thousand euros.

“He was presented with an unprecedented salary proposal in the history of (our club).”

La Depeche have claimed that Liverpool are also interested in Tobido, so the world is certainly at the Frenchman’s feet right now.

But Wolves have shown during the Fosun reign that they can provide a platform for talented young footballers to express themselves and take their game to another level, so Molineux could represent a sensible stepping stone.
