According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in West Ham United attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini.
It has been reported that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is keeping tabs on the Argentina international, who cost West Ham £9 million in transfer fees when they made his loan deal from Al Jazira permanent in March 2016, as reported by The Daily Mail.
While on the surface it would seem that Tottenham are planning to reinforce their attacking department, could it be that Pochettino is preparing for the departure for Christian Eriksen next summer?
Eriksen is one of the best and most creative attacking midfielders in Europe, and the Denmark international’s recent exploits with Denmark are only going to enhance his reputation.
The 25-year-old has been at Tottenham since 2013, and the former Ajax star’s progress at the North London club has been exemplary.
True, Spurs are a massive club and are going places, but could Eriksen resist the offers of Real Madrid and Barcelona if they came calling next summer?
Would Tottenham be able to turn down major offers for the Dane next summer? Would the player himself not be willing to move a step up?
Maybe Pochettino is preparing for the eventuality of Eriksen leaving and is lining up as replacement in Lanzini…?
