Leicester City will want a huge fee for England’s World Cup hero Harry Maguire, who is reportedly on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.

If Harry Maguire was a man in demand before the World Cup, he most certainly will be after it, too.
The Leicester City centre-back has emerged as a national hero on the back of his superb performances during England’s run to the semi-finals in Russia, not least for his thumping header against Sweden; a goal John Terry or Terry Butcher would have been proud to call their own.
But how much is the former Hull and Sheffield United man worth these days, in a market where top quality centre-backs are scarce and increasingly expensive?
The Mirror claimed in February that Leicester would not be willing to listen to offers below £50 million and Maguire’s suitors, who are reported to include Tottenham, would be lucky to get him for such a fee now.
Spurs need a commanding, ball-playing centre-half to replace the seemingly departing Toby Alderweireld and Maguire, a combination of modern and throwback styles, ticks pretty much every possible box.

Tottenham have plenty of money to spend this summer and, after establishing himself as one of the world’s top young centre-backs, Maguire suddenly looks very good value at £50 million. That is a similar price that Spurs would have to pay to land the likes of Matthijs de Ligt; a far less proven talent.
Unfortunately for them, however, Leicester will surely have put a few more pounds on his price-tag now.
