Vincent Janssen cost Premier League giants Spurs £18.6 million when he arrived at White Hart Lane from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar in 2016.

In an ideal world, Tottenham Hotspur would be able to wash their hands of Vincent Janssen and recoup the £18.6 million they invested in the Dutch international striker almost two years ago, as reported by Sky Sports.
Janssen was the reigning Eredivisie Golden Boot winner at the time, his prolific 27 goal debut season for AZ Alkmaar in 2015/16 earning him a big move to Tottenham.
Spurs fans will not want reminding how that panned out, however. It is fair to say this latest Eredivisie import was more Mateja Kezman and Afonso Alves than Ruud Van Nistelrooy or Luis Suarez, netting two times in the Premier League from 27 appearances – and only one of those from open play.

And if a loan spell at Fenerbahce in Turkey was supposed to revitalise Janssen, who looked bereft of confidence throughout his stay in North London, Spurs will be disappointed.
The 23-year-old, like fellow former Spurs flop Roberto Soldado, has continued to struggle since moving to Istanbul.
Two goals in his first three games looks to have been a false dawn as Janssen has not scored again in his eight Super Lig appearances since. He has since fallen behind Soldado and the prolific Fernandao in the pecking order.

According to ESPN, there is a very real chance now that Janssen will miss the rest of the season with a toe injury picked up two months ago, so the likelihood is that he will return to Tottenham further away than ever from Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans.
It will be no surprise if Spurs cash in on Janssen in the summer but they will be lucky to get even half of their £18.6 million back.
