Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to bring Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt to the Premier League but Andy Van der Meyde reckons they want his teammate, too.

Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg celebrates after scoring a goal during UEFA Europa League semi-final, first leg, Ajax Amsterdam v Olympique Lyonnais (OL) on May 3, 2017 in Amsterdam.

Does Andy Van der Meyde have some insider information about the future of two of Dutch football’s most exciting talents? The former Everton, Inter Milan and Holland winger certainly seems sure that both Matthijs de Ligt and Kasper Dolberg will be on their way out of Ajax this summer.

De Ligt has been a revelation since breaking into the Ajax first-team a year ago, establishing himself at centre-back and becoming the youngest captain in the club’s illustrious history at just 18.

Reports in the Independent, however, report that De Ligt is in negotiations about a move to Tottenham Hotspur, potentially as a replacement for Toby Alderweireld. But the Guardian reported a day earlier that Manchester City were also preparing a bid.

De Ligt is not the only Ajax wonder-kid tipped to follow in the footsteps of Christian Eriksen and Luis Suarez however. Danish striker Dolberg has been highly coveted since helping Ajax reach the Europa League final in 2017, although injuries stunted his progress last season.

Nonetheless, Van der Meyde is confident both De Ligt and Dolberg will be Premier League players next season.

“Ajax have many promising players. De Ligt is wanted by Manchester City and Dolberg is monitored by Tottenham,” the 38-year-old former Ajax star said in quotes reported by Calciomercato.

“(Dolberg) has had a difficult season but I think both of them will move to the Premier League in the summer.”

Spurs’ supposed interest in Dolberg, who notched just six Eredivisie goals last season, is very interesting. Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen all moved to North London from Ajax while the likes of Justin Kluivert, Frenkie de Jong, Hakim Ziyech and Donny Van der Beek have been linked this year.

Dolberg, however, has so far remained absent from the discussion.
