Faouzi Ghoulam looks increasingly unlikely to renew his contract at Napoli – and this could be excellent news for Spurs.

Whether Danny Rose will be a Tottenham Hotspur player this time next year is anyone’s guess. After the England international openly vented his frustration at Spurs’ transfer policy, while simultaneously torching a few bridges by admitting he’d be tempted by the offer of a big contract from elsewhere, per The Sun, it makes sense for the North London side to plan for life without the 27-year-old.

Reports in Football Italia earlier in the month that the Serie A title challengers were in advanced negotiations to tie the Algerian down to 2022 looked to have killed off Spurs’ hopes but it appears that there is a twist in the tale.
Mario Giuffredi, the agent of Ghoulam’s team-mate Mario Rui, has claimed that if the former St Etienne star “wanted to renew, he’d already have done it”, in quotes reported by Football Italia.
The fact that it is almost a month since negotiations reportedly intensified, and Ghoulam has not yet committed his future to Napoli, suggest that all is not going particularly smoothly.

The report adds that Liverpool are keen on Ghoulam but Spurs have certainly been boosted by the fact that one of Europe’s finest left-backs could be available for nothing.
Daniel Levy can hardly contain his excitement.
