Tottenham Hotspur’s Fernando Llorente should be worrying the manager.

Tottenham Hotspur fans were merciless in their criticism of Fernando Llorente last night.
Subbed on with four minutes to go, the Spanish striker missed a glorious chance to fire Tottenham 3-1 ahead away to Borussia Dortmund but that opportunity, like all the others that have come his way in a Spurs shirt, went begging.

The former Swansea hitman is now yet to score in his first 14 games for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and such a worrying resembleance to Vincent Janssen should make the Argentine manager wonder if he needs another goalscorer when the January transfer window opens.
Llorente was supposed to be a better alternative to Janssen, who was shipped off to Fenerbahce on loan, but it is telling that Tottenham are still one injury to Harry Kane away from a full-blown crisis and maybe, just maybe, another striker is needed in the new year.

Truth is, the Lilywhites wouldn’t survive a serious injury to Kane if Llorente was the only back-up option and that worrying thought alone should be enough to make Pochettino act in January.
The Spaniard, who also had a spell with Juventus, isn’t a bad player by any means, and his 15 Premier League goals for Swansea last season is a reminder that he is far more in tune with English football than Janssen was last term, but is he good enough to the Plan B that Spurs want and need? At the moment, it’s unlikely.
