Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga champion Mats Hummels has been linked with a shock move to Premier League duo Chelsea and Spurs.

How the mighty have fallen.
Back in 2014, as he raised the World Cup trophy above his head, Mats Hummels could have justifiably claimed that he was the best defender on the planet – if he wasn’t so humble that is.
An outstanding reader of the game who was so good with the ball at his feet that opposition managers were known to enlist centre-forwards to man-mark him, top clubs all over Europe would have jumped at the chance to snatch Hummels’ signature.
But the four-time Bundesliga champion, like so many of the Germany team who triumphed in Rio, has declined considerably in the last few years.

To the point where many Tottenham Hotspur fans are refusing to even entertain the idea of Hummels lining up alongside Jan Vertonghen at the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s defence.
According to TZ, the Bayern Munich’s man has travelled to England for talks with both Tottenham and Chelsea with his future at the Allianz Arena uncertain. Hummels has slipped behind Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule in Niko Kovac’s plans.
Yes, Hummels’ form might have dipped but is he really, as many supporters claim, ‘finished’? 30 is still young for a centre-back in the modern era and he won the Bundesliga title as recently as May too.
