Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hoping to bring Juventus’s £35.8m Serie A winner Costa to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will not need to be reminded that their club has failed to sign a single new player in each of the last two transfer windows.

So no wonder some fans have taken new links with Brazilian superstar Douglas Costa with a pinch of salt.

According to Calciomercato, Spurs are interested in offering the explosive winger an escape route out of Juventus, just half a season after he joined the Serie A champions on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich for £35.8 million (BBC).

Anyone who watched Costa in full flow during his time at Shakhtar, Bayern or during his first season at Juve will tell you that he is potentially one of the most exciting attackers anywhere in world football, a player with remarkable pace, a thunderbolt shot and the ability to put a cross on a sixpence.

He produced 14 assists in all competitions for Juve last season as Max Allegri’s side won the league and cup double. So just imagine how effective Costa could be at a Spurs side already containing the considerable attacking talents of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and co.

Whether Daniel Levy is prepared to pay what Juventus want, however, is another matter entirely.
