Spurs were reportedly offered the chance to sign Batshuayi but he has joined Premier League neighbours Palace on loan from Chelsea instead.

No team had ever failed to sign a player in successive transfer windows until the bell chimed 11pm on Thursday night. Just like last summer, Tottenham Hotspur didn’t bring in a single new signing despite a series of injuries and a daunting fixture schedule on the horizon.
But did Mauricio Pochettino make the right call turning down the chance to sign Michy Batshuayi? According to Sky (live blog, 2.11pm), Spurs were offered the seldom-seen Chelsea striker but they had no interest in bringing him to North London.
The Mirror has shed more light on the situation, claiming that Chelsea were demanding a quite remarkable £8 million loan fee. They were only demanding £2 million from Crystal Palace, however, who finally snapped up Batshuayi on Thursday night.

Though it seems that few Tottenham fans were losing sleep as Batshuayi passed them by. The 23-year-old has hardly set the world alight since joining Chelsea for £33 million in 2016 and it speaks volumes that they spent yesterday desperately trying to offload him.
Yes, Spurs are a little light up front but it must be remembered too that Batshuayi only recently had a loan spell at Valencia cancelled after mustering just three goals in 23 matches.
